Foreclosures in Nevada slid considerably in 2014. According to a report by RealtyTrac, one in 76 homes in the state received a foreclosure-related filing last year bringing the rate down to 38 percent from 2013.

Some of the filings involved default notices, scheduled auctions, and bank repossessions.

Creditors started the foreclosure process on almost 9,000 homes in Nevada, down 49 percent from 2013, and seized about 4,100 homes, down 37 percent, according to RealtyTrac.

However, the state still ranked fifth in the nation behind Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, and Illinois.

At the national level, foreclosures also dropped to 18 percent where one in every 118 homes had foreclosure filings.
