Nevada PUC Approves Cut in Energy Bills

Picket Fence

Residents in Southern Nevada will be getting small cuts on their energy bills beginning next week thanks to the agreement approved by the State Public Utilities Commission, Nevada Power, NV, Energy, and the state Bureau of Consumer Protection.

The reduction is based on a customer using 1,145 kilowatt hours of electricity a month, and equates to a 0.88 percent decline from $154.04 to $152.69.

Prior to the agreement, there was a filing that proposed to increase energy rates to 0.39 percent across all rate classes in Southern Nevada.

The overall result is a decrease in the utility’s revenue requirement of $20.7 million, or 0.90 percent.
